Welcome to JanimeS
JanimeS is a scanlation site that offers some reviews and a forum. There is no team working for this site.
Everything for this site is operated by one person. JanimeS has been online since year 1998.
What this site offers (mainly) is translated comics from both Korea and Japan. Those can be found under Projects and downloads. You may also visit the forum to talk with others.
I started a plan to swift focus of JanimeS slightly toward culture, thus a new section named "Culture" was born. You can find Korean related news and articles over there.
JanimeS is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) site. JanimeS won't send any sort of files
directly to individuals. You enjoy what JanimeS currently has.

Comic magazines part 2

A follow-up blog entry from my previous one, http://www.janimes.c...omic-magazines/

I picked up a new magazine. It does carry some good (looking) ones including the famed Vagabond series, but all of series carried by this magazine have advanced too far into its plots, making it virtually impossible to scanlate.
Its main audience is teenage boys.

Just magazine vol 133.
I thought it was a comic magazine. Well, it was not. It's a magazine about young artists, their stories and interviews and so on.
Basically, it has nothing to do with comics.
Oh well.

August edition of Party magazine.
Currently, Party magazine is a good candidate. I also must inform you that the author of Diotima has an ongoing series in this magazine. Its title is "Sherlock Holmes story" which I don't find all that interesting unfortunately.
A new manwha has started in August edition. This might be a good time to begin Party magazine project, but I am debating with myself.
I am keeping my eyes on this magazine and am waiting for a good manwha to start.
P.S. The author of "Nocturne" has a series in this magazine.
Party magazine update:

Above is a quick scan of the new series in Party magazine. When I saw it for the first time, I was like "wow, it looks nice." Then I read the story which made me disappointed a bit, but this manwha is from a new author and I am willing to scanlate this one. This series is the author's first commercial work.
This series will start "Party magazine" project.

Well, duh, I picked up July and August editions of Wink magazine.
Wink magazine is also a candidate at the moment, though I find it weaker than Party magazine. I have to keep my eyes on this magazine because a series is ending in September. Whatever starts anew in October edition, I could go for it, thus beginning Wink magazine project.
P.S. If you have noticed "Gong" is being serialized in this magazine.

I've been thinking about this for quite some time now.
Which is that I've been thinking of slowly swaying away from scanlation. I am not announcing that I am qutting scanlating. Instead, I am announcing that I am going to change the direction JanimeS will head.
First of all, I will no longer take on new independent projects. What I currently have as active projects are all. There will be no more, though what I currently have will last for at least 3 years (projected data).
Instead of taking on new series to scanlate, I will take on new magazines instead. Right now, I've been doing Issue magazine for over a year now.
I will likely take on another Korean comic magazine (or two) and scanlate it in the same way as how Issue magazines are currently scanlated.
Once active independent projects are done, and when I work on solely magazines instead, there won't be daily updates. There will be daily updates when there are materials to work on, but when materials are dried up, there won't be updates, which is why I am taking on more magazines to fill the gap because Issue magazine alone provides only 10 days worth of updates.
Additionally, I will also scan and translate articles/news from Korean magazines (Non-comic/manwha) regarding Korean fashions and such.
Basically, I plan to turn JanimeS into a Korean culture site with a strong focus on scanlation.
I will continue to provide occasional reviews for (hentai) games as I do now.

Issue magazine 2010 09.
I see three good one shots in this edition. They will likely be scanlated. One of one shots is Kyle's final fantasy.
1. Savage Garden : It's becoming way too typical for my taste, but I suppose you will absolutely love this requiem. Euan takes extreme measures. Let's just leave it at that.
2. Perfect couple : Male protagonist's past is revealed somewhat which helps to explain why he became how he is now.
3. Shining : I now define Shining as slice of life series. All characters in shining have one thing in common: They whine a lot about their lives.
4. Love @ first sight : The author has mastered the art of plot dragging to a whole new level. I am impressed in a very negative way.

According to my recent blog Annoucement : Change of direction of JanimeS, I stated that I will work on other magazines other than Issue.
The phase one began today. I've purchased 4 more comic magazines when I bought Issue magazine. I will go through each of them throughout and make some decisions.

Jump magazine. It's the same Japanese Jump magazine, but this one's Korean version. I looked through it quickly and I can't make use of any of materials being carried in this magazine because all series are currently being scanlated by other teams.
This magazine carries all currently popular manga. It does carry one or two manwha, but manwha is not the sale point of this magazine.

Chance magazine aims at young boys. It carries manga and manwha in equal amount. All series are either fighting genre or similar. (You know the type.)

Party magazine aims at general population. Its style is quite similar to Issue.

Main audience for this magazine is young female. Wink magazine has a long history. Its style is also similar to Issue magazine.
I believe Jump magazine is out already. For the other three, I will need some more time.
